Kim Kardashian’s attorney complained in court that Kris Humphries is just drawing out the whole divorce process, keeping Kim “handcuffed” to Kris when she’s ready to move on. Now Radar Online reports one sticking point between the couple is the 20.5 carat engagement ring. Remember THAT ring? Well, Kris reportedly got a big discount on the $2 million ring, only shelling out $750,000 for it, but he still wants it back. Kim didn’t return the wedding presents, and she’s not returning the ring, either.
“Kris is adamant that he wants the ring back. And it’s becoming a real sticking point between his and Kim’s attorneys. She has made it plain that she has no intention of returning it though and feels she is within her legal right to refuse as she went through with the wedding. However, Kris contends that the marriage was a total sham and that Kim only wed him for publicity so therefore she has no right to keep such an expensive gift.
“Kris doesn’t understand why Kim would even want to keep the ring anyway. It obviously has no sentimental value as she has publicly declared their wedding as ‘a huge mistake’ and she certainly doesn’t need the money, so why doesn’t she just return it to him?”
Given how long this divorce is taking, and that Kris really wants an annulment because he claims Kim defrauded him, I think Kim should use this ring as leverage. He wants his ring back? Fine- take the ring, agree to a divorce (NOT an annulment), and be on your way. Otherwise, this just looks like greed.
