Gabby Douglas Says She & Her Family Were Homeless Dec 6th 2012, 18:00 OMG! Olympic gold medalist Gabby Douglas really has had an amazing life story, and she’s only a teenager! Gabby talks about the struggles she and her family faced before she won big in London in her memoir, ‘Grace, Gold, and Glory: My Leap of Faith.’ Gabby explained: “It wasn't easy. I went through a lot of difficulties and struggles and money problems. We were homeless.” Can you imagine?! Gabby also opened up about her relationship with her father. "He wasn't really in the picture. He wasn't really there for me but I hope when he reads my book, he can relate to how I felt and hopefully we'll build a stronger and better relationship in the future. “I was kind of shocked [to see him at the Olympics] because I hadn't seen him in so long.
